StarCraft 2 action figures shown off at Comic-Con

Posted on Jul 25, 2010 11:00:00 PM
Blizzard's line-up of action figures based on its handful of lucrative franchises will soon expand to include the burly, frontline soldiers of StarCraft 2. The DC Unlimited-manufactured miniatures were prominently displayed at the company's Comic-Con booth, which the toy trade site Figures.com captured through the magic of digital photography.

The first set of action figures include a Terran Space Marine, the Protoss heavyweight Zeratul and returning StarCraft protagonist Jim Raynor. If you're hoping to recreate the strategic action of the series on your bedroom nightstand, you might want to check out Figures' detailed images of these three toys, which are set to hit store shelves in spring 2011.

Upcoming Twitter Contest, Win Puzzle Quest 2

Posted on Jul 25, 2010 09:30:17 PM

Starting tomorrow, Monday, July 26, we’ll be having a special series of contests on our Twitter feed, and will be giving out codes for Puzzle Quest 2 on the Xbox Live Arcade to each winner! However, we haven’t had a contest like this before, so you’ll need to be quick and ready to go in order to win.

How will it work: When the contest starts, we’ll be posting tweets that look similar to this,

Puzzle Example: Find the following items: 1) Sunscreen 2) Sunglasses and 3) Baseball Hat. (Tag with #PQPEx, Follow @360Sync, and use Twitpic)

In this example, if you are able to find sunscreen, sunglasses, and a baseball hat, you’ll need to take a picture with all 3 items, and tag it appropriately on Twitter (using sites similar to Twitpic.com). Once the contest is posted, we’ll be immediately rewarding the FIRST person to accurately find and get a picture with all 3 items in it.

When uploading a successful contest entry (on Twitter), you’ll need to make sure that all 3 items are clearly seen in the picture, and that you somehow get the picture tagged with the correct Hashtag. This will ensure that we see the contest entry, and that anyone else who searches will be able to tell who got it first.

A winning tweet, when responding to the example above, will look like this,

(Posted on my Twitter) – Here is my contest entry @360Sync#PQPEx http://twitpic.com/28pxey

We will be using this post to announce winners, and to answer any questions that may seem unclear on Twitter. So, feel free to comment below if you have any questions before and during the event.

Extra contest details: We should add, that creativity will work, but only to some extent. We don’t want someone to draw a picture of each item, and then expect to win without doing any hunting, that wouldn’t be fun!

Some contests will be difficult, and nearly impossible, but are set up to allow almost any person to win at any given time. You can check below, and see if anyone has successfully entered and won. We’ll be announcing winners, and crossing off entries below as they are validated.

Super Street Fighter IV’s brawlers getting new DLC outfits this fall

Posted on Jul 25, 2010 09:30:00 PM
We wouldn't blame you for confusing yesterday's Street Fighter-focused Comic-Con panel for a wedding ceremony -- after all, it contained announcements of something old, something new, something borrowed (that is to say, fighters from Tekken) and ... well, Chun-Li's new outfit is blue, isn't it? Fine, the analogy doesn't quite work, but the fact remains: Series producer Yoshinori Ono revealed that all of Super Street Fighter IV's characters would receive new outfits in a DLC pack to be released this fall.

Kotaku caught an image of the slide showing off some of these new outfits, including a Catwoman-esque get-up for Cammy, and a nightmarish, open-chested leather suit for Rufus. Note that we're using "nightmarish" in the literal sense, here. As in: "We plan to have nightmares about this, possibly as soon as tonight."

Fable 3 gameplay footage from Comic-Con is very, very upsetting

Posted on Jul 25, 2010 08:00:00 PM
We're not sure who was responsible for controlling the Fable 3 Comic-Con show floor demo shown in the video below, but whoever it was should be ashamed. Not because of all the peasant murder, mind you -- we've all done that -- but for executing the most aggressive flatulence attack we've ever seen.

MAG’s Sabotage gametype goes ‘Faction Neutral’

Posted on Jul 25, 2010 06:30:00 PM
Let's face it -- some of MAG's factions know how to build strongholds better than others. Many of the game's players have argued that the layouts of Valor, Raven and S.V.E.R.'s respective maps in the "Sabotage" gametype have given distinct advantages to ... well, whichever faction they don't belong to, most likely. Now, that argument has been rendered pointless -- Zipper Interactive recently made all three maps for the gametype "Faction Neutral."

So, what does that mean? Well, the map which two teams are playing on will no longer determine who is attacking and defending. Zipper community manager Jeremy Dunham explained, "if you choose to play Sabotage and you're on Valor, you'll be able to defend SVER and Raven's map in addition to your own. On the flipside, you'll also be able to attack you're own map with another PMC defending it." But ... that's treason, isn't it? We're pretty sure that's light treason.

inFamous 2 animated cutscene has attitude to spare

Posted on Jul 25, 2010 05:00:00 PM
Though inFamous 2 protagonist Cole McGrath may have lost a bit of gruffness-of-voice since the series' first iteration, it seems he's gained a bit of .... well, gruffness-of-attitude. Check out the trailer below to see the negatively-charged man give the low-down on his new stomping grounds.

Mass Effect 2 getting new DLC weapon pack before Shadow Broker

Posted on Jul 25, 2010 03:30:00 PM
A few hardcore Mass Effect 2 devotees noticed something off in the media released to promote the game's upcoming DLC pack, "The Lair of the Shadow Broker" -- Commander Shepard and Co. were wielding some heretofore unavailable weaponry. While some assumed the new content would include these future-guns, BioWare community manager Jarrett Lee quickly took to the forums to explain that "they are in fact part of a different pack that will be released prior to Lair of the Shadowbroker."

Lee assured fans that while the guns would be sold apart from the newly announced content, "Lair of the Shadow Broker does, however, contain some *really* cool stuff we haven't revealed yet." We're assuming he's talking about a hideous race of space monsters that can only be killed using ... these new, purchasable guns! Then again, our hearts are cold and calloused.

DC Universe Online preventing the apocalypse Nov. 2

Posted on Jul 25, 2010 01:00:00 PM
Yesterday's DC Universe Online-centric Comic-Con panel included a whole cornucopia of surprises for attendees (and potential subscribers). For instance, TV and film star Mark Hamill was there, talking about his role as the nefarious, wide-grinned Joker. Also, everyone in the audience got beta keys, which seemed to please them to no end. Also, it was announced the game wouldn't require a PSN+ subscription to play on the PS3 on top of the standard MMO subscription fee, which was also met with rousing applause.

The biggest surprise came from comic writer Jim Lee, who announced that the game would drop on November 2. Sure, we knew it would come at some point during the 11th month, but not two days into it. Why, that's practically late October, if you really think about it.
